These are the courses which we offer on a regular basis and are endorsed by the National Arts Council Art Education Programme. The courses are eligible for the Tote Board Arts Grant subsidy and help to develop creativity in school children.

ART POP!™

ArtPOP! enables students to appreciate paper-cut and construction of scenes from a storyline. It allows students to plan and construct scenes and learn about composition, perspective, balance and proportion. Awareness of recycling and reusing scrap materials to form an art piece can also be incorporated.

Claymation

Clay is a wonderful, tactile medium that many kids have never experienced before. Its three dimensional natural forces them to think about structures, shapes, forms and gain an insight behind the production of clay animation movies like “Wallace and Gromit” and “Chicken Run”. Participants will get a better understanding starting from conceptualisation, storyboarding, clay molding, to shooting the figurines and editing. It’s about using their imagination to bring life into clay animation.

Sand Animation

Sand Animation is a name given to creating an animation with sand or other form of particles. This type of animation requires considerable precision and pre-planning, every frame is captured by moving the particles bit by bit, and forming the scenic picture. This workshop helps participants to understand how this type of animation is created. Naturally, they will also be taught the theory of animation but with the concept and use of this technique of manipulating the sand or particles into cinematographic frames from planning to execution.

Cut-out Animation

If you adore colourful 2D animation but find cel-drawing tedious to accomplish, then cut-out animation is perfect for you. It is a mesmerising mix of paper craft with hassle free set up to capture the frame by frame animation. Participants will be exposed to the concept of layers and depth to produce vibrant and engaging two dimensional animation. It is an alternative form of craft products as they go about slicing, cutting and conceptualising their paper cut-outs.

Dazzle Video™

Working as a team is the essence in video production; to plan and conceptualise the visual interpretation of a static image in motion. Students will be encouraged to express their ideas and opinions through the use of the video medium.

Participants will be exposed to the entire video production process from pre-production planning, video shooting and editing to complete their own video.

Cyber Art™

Students can learn to create different versions of their very own imaginary masterpiece. Cyber art is an aesthetic perception that students will comprehend while producing their concept. They will be taught on refining and clarifying their idea in consideration of the sensitivity of the beholder. It dwells very much into the psychological state of the artist. It is abstract, it is elusive but it is real art. From designing typography poster to digital painting on wall murals, participants get to conceptualise their ideas before transforming them into the digital realm to awe your audiences.

Photo Journalism™

Transforming work into pleasure, students will be taught to operate a digital camera to capture some of the most stunning and intriguing pictures fit to impress judges! They will also plan, explore and write an article on a given theme. They will be able to develop compositional skills and master the different types of shots to capture spirit of a subject, to convey emotion and meaning of an image. Armed with the image capturing device, our adventurers will snap images to enhance their story-telling skills.

Creative Textile™

Think project runway. It explores the artistic skills and techniques in the context of fashionable design. Participants will be creating designs that possess decorative and expressive qualities on practical work of arts such as recyclable art, mementos, accessories or textile pieces.

Flipbook Animation

Using optical illusion to create a continuous motion exchanged in quick succession to deliver a traditional flipper book or digital flipbook with new media integration. Still images come alive complete live actions, messages and even dialogues with background music.

Manga Art

Participants will pick up the unique skill of drawing to produce their very own distinguished Japanese Manga! They will be taught on the tips to draw the characters’ exaggerated facial features, body forms, styles the background effects. Participants will take on the drawing of stories in block pictures which evolve to segmented graphic stories, similar to a storyboard in this workshop.

My First Art Book

The course is targeted at the lower primary students with the aim to expose young aspiring artistes to the foundations of art. Students are encouraged to learn these basics of arts such as colours, line, balance, form and texture through exercises that require them to try out on their own.

 

These courses involve more technical skills and help to develop basic multimedia ability. To have an all-rounded insight into the use of digital media, these programmes are fundamental. Students will understand the techniques of traditional animations versus computer generated ones. The composition of the sound and images would provide students an opportunity to express their ideas into an art movements complete with meaning and important messages for the targeted audiences. Manipulations of images, colours of sound with topics they have learned in Science in bringing forth scientology awareness while enjoying an interactive learning experience.

3D Printing Technology

Combining 3D printing technology with traditional sculpture to a virtual level, sculptures can now be created with unlimited possibilities in an environment that is not bounded by gravity, time and space. By imparting the knowledge of virtual tools, sculptors are able to construct shapes with beautiful forms by working in a digital environment. Replacing hammer and chisel, simple mouse clicks combined with modelling technique produces design that are useful in the engineering and virtualisation industry.

These courses are arts created primarily for visual perception and uses the imagination and creativity of the students. It can range to sculptures, paintings, crafts and such.

By combining recycled materials like papers, plastic bottles and caps, boxes and wrappers, students are able to come up with a simple project with thematical purposes to create their artworks either as an indvidual or as a group effort.

Sand Animation

 

Sand Art is a name given literally to mean making or creating an animation with sand or other form of particles.

This free form of animating has two ways of animating; Silhouette Animation or Non-Silhouette Animation. Both form of animation requires considerable precision and pre-planning, every frame is captured by moving the particles bit by bit, forming the scenic picture.

Breathing life into art with animation. Discover the industrial trend in animation-art in movement. This course helps to foster and strengthen team spirit through effective communication with hands on experience.

Students will be producing an impressive animation with different materials such as clay, objects, paper cut-out or practically any material. Through the interaction with their team mates, students will also better understand the importance of teamwork.

Liquid Art Performance

This performance art can be infused with music composition to synchronise the dropping of colourful ink on water to create ripples and interesting patterns. These designs are the result of floating ink can be carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or special fabric.

Colour Psychology

Is it true that couples quarrel more in a yellow kitchen? Does blue brings about peace and serenity while red signals passion as well as danger? Why do people dress up predominantly in blue around Central Business District on weekdays?

Colour evokes emotions and can dramatically affect moods and feelings. Discover how the properties of colour theory can relate messages, influence reactions and cause physiology changes in our everyday lives. When combined with appropriate music, it can soothe pain, bring excitement and even raise metabolism.

Manga Art

The workshop will explore the possibilities of creating comic or manga artwork.

It details the entire process from initial rough sketches to the finished comic or manga artwork portfolio, which will consist of their main comic manga character with either Market, Coloured Pencil or Ink finishing with step-by-step drawing techniques imparted.

3D Printing & Scanning

This is a new and exciting realm to expose our young digital artists in a 3D printing industry that our government is strongly promoting.

This 3D workshop introduces the state-of-the-art of 3D modelling technique showcasing 3D scanning technology and modelling application to produce interesting art design concepts.

By imparting participants with knowledge of virtual tools, sculptors are capable to create shapes with beautiful forms by working in a digital environment.

Our Learning Journey programme is a unique one that ties up with another one of our programme that we offer, which is Photojournalism. After which, students will be moving forward to another basic course for photojournalism to put words into pictures and even edit their photos in basic editing software like Photoshop. Either that, our Learning Journey programme can also be tied up with one of the subjects that they are currently learning in school such as history or geography.
