Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I submit more than one entry?
A: Teams or individuals cannot submit more than one entry per category. However, you can submit more than one entry if your entries are for different categories. For example, you can submit one entry for the Strings (Open to All) Category and one for our Percussion - Manga Art (Open to All) Category.


Q: Is there a theme for AniMania 09?

A: No, we do not have a specific theme stated for AniMania 09. Entries may be of any themes but please stay clear of inappropriate or offensive content.


Q: My students from my ITE branch are interested to participate, how many entries can our institution submit?
A: Considering the number of students in each institution, similar to other tertiary institutions, there will be no limit on the number of entries.


Q: We are not from the government schools but we are an accredited international school in Singapore, how can our students participate?
A: If your students are between the age of 7 to 12 years old, they can participate in the Primary category and if they are between the age of 13-16 years old, they can participate in the secondary category.


Q: Can I submit an entry which the school had submitted for other competitions previously?
A: No. Entry which was used for submission in previous competitions cannot be submitted again. If found out, the entry will be disqualified.


Q: We are a group of teachers who are interested in taking part in the AniMania® competition, how can we participate?
A: School teachers are welcomed to participate in the competition under the ‘Open Category’. However, each participant can only be a member of one team.


Q: My friends and I have always been very interested to learn about animation and are very keen about this competition. How can we learn animation and join the competition?
A: You can sign up with CreativeBITS for their New Media courses which will equip you with the essential skills. If you will like to find out more on the courses, please email wow@creativebits.com.sg


Q: We have yet to confirm details on our entry title and team members; will our registration form still be valid?
A: Yes we will still accept your registration form. However we need the contact details of the teacher-in-charge, lecturer or participant (if you are submitting as an individual). This will allow us to inform you of any updates and other important information with regards to the competition.


Q: What if we are not able to submit an entry in time for the deadline?
A: We will send out reminders before the deadline to all participants who have registered with us. If you are not able to submit an entry this year, you can always join the competition next year.


Q: Does giving acknowledgement equate to the clearance of copyright?
A: No. You need a written consent from the owner (e.g. email). It is the absolute responsibility of all participating teams and their schools to observe such practice


Q: How can I obtain a royalty free music which I do not have to pay for the copyright?
A: There are several ways to achieve this:- 1. Written consent from the company and the artiste (e.g. Sony & Madonna) 2. Original composition with the music department or self composed digital piece 3. Purchase of royalty free music compilation


Q: Can I produce my animation in another language other than English?

A: You may produce your animation in any language that you desire but you must provide some form of translation in English in order for the judges to understand your animation.
